QWhat is Weight Pulling?

AWeight pull (WP) is a growing sport for all dog breeds from the smallest Chihuahua to the largest Mastiff. Dogs have special made harnesses and try to pull a set amount of weight within a certain time and distance. This will involve your dog pulling a certain amount of weight on either: a wheeled cart on carpet, grass, or dirt; a sled on snow; or a carpeted rail system. Check out the gallery to see some dogs pulling.

QI just got a puppy! When can I start?

AIt is not advisable for your dog to pull weight until they are one year old. However, you should start desensitizing your pup by simply getting a puppy/training pull harness to get them used to the feel of a harness. Next, attach a gallon plastic jugs with a few rocks in it to get them used to noise behind them. Do not have your pup train with heavy weights until maturity.
